Concussion Clinic
Concussion is a brain injury caused by sudden bump, jolt, or blow to, or a violent shaking of, the head, either with or without loss of consciousness. Symptoms include headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, confusion, lack of coordination, memory loss, ringing in the ears, sleepiness and fatigue. Concussions are serious. There is no such thing as a minor concussion.
Sports-related concussions are not uncommon in adolescent sports activities, and more than 300,000 sports related concussions occur annually in the United States.
Our concussion program evaluates and treats patient of all ages who have sustained concussions. While most people are able recover completely from a concussion, each person’s response to a concussion is different, and recovery treatment plans are individualized accordingly. The Concussion Clinic at Polin Neurosurgery will evaluate and assist with the symptoms of a concussion, as well as develop a comprehensive treatment plan to support recovery and a return to normal activities and sports.
